Here is the schedule of events for the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska. Subject to change without notice:

Tues, May 19 1:35 p.m. Large contingent of European competitors arrives in Anchorage on Condor Airlines. Beard Team USA members arrive on several flights.

6:00 p.m. Informal get together with other contestants, fans, and guests. Location to be announced. Admission: free.

Wed, May 20 7:00 a.m. Carnival Princess arrives in Whittier. Cruise ship passengers transfer to Anchorage for mid-morning arrival.

10:00 a.m. Walking tours of downtown Anchorage.

Afternoon Visit to Alaska Native Heritage Center.

6:00 p.m. BBQ hosted by South Central Alaska Beard and Moustache Club and Anchorage Area Lions Clubs.

Thurs, May 21 All day Alaskan adventures. Fishing, hiking, sightseeing, wildlife viewing, etc. Costs vary with activities.

Fri, May 22 4:00 p.m. Beard parade through downtown Anchorage.
Admission: free.

4:30 p.m. Welcome Rally and Media Kick-off. Town Square.

6:30 p.m. Opening party at the Dena'ina Center. Entertainment by the Beards, straight from Adelaide, Australia, featuring "songs about beards for people with beards."

Sat, May 23 10:00 a.m. Final contestant registration and pre-judging at the Dena'ina Center. All contestants must appear for verification that they are entered in the correct category. Late registrations will be accepted.

12:30 p.m. Appearance at Downtown Market

1:30 p.m. Doors open for World Beard and Moustache Championships
Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center, 600 W. 7th Ave., Anchorage

Admission:
Contestants and VIP reserved seating: $40
General admission: $20
Family pass: $50

2:00 p.m. Moustache and partial beard judging

7:00 p.m. Full beard judging

Sun, May 24 12:00 noon Depart for excursion to Portage Lake and Crow Creek Mine for farewell beer and brats. Cost: $60 per person. Meet at Egan Center, 555 W. 5th Ave., Anchorage
