Partial Beard Freestyle (non-goatee)
Free design and styling of all partial beards that are not goatees. Such partial beards not meeting the criteria for other categories may compete in this category. An area at least 4 cm wide (the width of a razor blade) between the temple and the goatee must be clean shaven.

This category represent the evolution of the sideburns category introduced in Carson City. The trouble is, the category description does not permit sideburns.

American Bill Mitchell from Hinesville, Georgia, won his first world title in this category at the 2011 Trondhjem games. Mitchell, who took third in sideburns in Anchorage, was switched from Partial Beard Freestyle to this category at the last minute. Bill took top honors at the New York City BMC last December and has also gotten some other international experience under his belt, trekking to Leogang, Austria in October, 2010 for the Euros. Mitchell is retired from the US Army. He carried the American Flag for Beard Team USA in the parade in Trondhjem. His six granddaughters call him BIG DADDY.
Toot Joslin won this one in 2005 in Berlin and again in 2009 in Anchorage.
