2011 WBMC Results:

First: Burke Kenny, USA
Second: Albert Schmidt, Switzerland
Third: Bernd Kopiak, Germany

Beard Team USA’s Burke Kenny is the current world champ in this category and he will be in Leinfelden-Echterdingen on November 2 hoping to defend his title. Burke has competed in all WBMC’s since Berlin 2005. He won this category at Brighton 2007. Many were surprised when Kenny missed the podium altogether at Anchorage 2009.

At Trondheim 2011 Switzerland’s Albert Schmidt (pictured below) was second and Germany’s Bernd Popiak, 2009’s gold medalist, was third. Schmid’s impressive record, viewable here, includes five German championships, one Swiss championship, and another first at the Alpine Beard Meet in Chur, Switzerland.

Schmid and Popiak are both expected to be in LE hoping to take Kenny’s world title from him.

Note: The 2013 World Beard and Moustache Championships will be conducted in accordance with the official Rules and Regulations of the Association of German Beard Clubs. The description set forth above is an unofficial English translation.
