Manfred Müller appears to have edged out defending champ Juhana Helmenkalastaja from Finland in the Dali Moustache category at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany on November 2, 2013.

Müller is a member of Belle Moustache, the organizer of the event.

In 2011 Helmenkalastaja beat out Max Pankow from the East Bavarian Beard Club, who took second in Anchorage as well and who won the category in 2005 and 2007. Pankow won at the 2012 USA-Nationals in Vegas as well. Here is a picture of Max with Salvador Dali. That’s Max on the left and Salvador on the right. No, it’s Salvador on the left and Max on the right. Dali is rumored to have won the Pankow moustache category at the Spanish championships in 1935.

Note: The 2013 World Beard and Moustache Championships will be conducted in accordance with the official Rules and Regulations of the Association of German Beard Clubs. The description set forth above is an unofficial English translation.
