The World Beard and Moustache Championships

Beards! Beer! Bend!

The first ever Beard Team USA National Beard and Moustache Championships will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Bend, Oregon.

There will be competition in four separate categories. The winner in each category will walk away with a cool $1000. So that everyone gets a shot at the cash, the fifth $1000 prize will go to a contestant selected at random.

The United States is the world’s new facial hair super power, having captured twelve world championship titles out of eighteen categories plus overall at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska on May 23, 2009. Possessing home field advantage, the USA was able to dethrone Germany which had dominated this competition since its inception.

Carson City, Nevada — Karl-Heinz Hille of Berlin, Germany, took top honors at the World Beard and Moustache Championships held in Carson City, Nevada, on November 1, 2003. Second place in the overall division went to 82-year-old Alf Jarrold of Manchester, England, while Dave Traver of Anchorage, Alaska, took third place. Read more…
